Dr Lim Yeong Phang

Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Lim Yeong Phang practises in Singapore at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He has expertise conducting hybrid coronary revascularization with interventional cardiologists, which combines surgical bypass and percutaneous stenting, as well as minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) via the chest wall without cutting through any bone. In the past, Dr. Lim served as a physician for the Republic of Singapore Air Force. He decided to pursue a career in surgery and joined the cardiothoracic surgery department at the Singapore General Hospital in 1998. In 2005, he was given a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) fellowship to pursue congenital heart surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic in the USA. He was hired as a consultant at the National Heart Centre (NHC) upon his return to Singapore in 2006 and then promoted to senior consultant. Additionally, KK Women's and Children's Hospital chose him as a visiting consultant. As a 2007 beneficiary of the SingHealth Talent Development Scheme, he spent three months in the Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital in China. Dr. Lim and his colleagues founded the National Cardiovascular Homograft Bank at NHC in 2008 with funding from the Ministry of Health, Singapore, and he currently serves as its medical director. Dr. Lim was named the director of the cardiac operating room at NHC in 2012.
