BIOGRAPHY
After graduating from the Catholic University Medical School in Rome, Italy, in 1977, Alberto Albanese went on to earn certifications in psychiatry in 1985 and neurology in 1981. Dr. Albanese held a Fulbright-Hays scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles' Brain Research Institute from 1978 to 1979. He served as a visiting professor alongside the late Professor David Marsden at the Maudsley Hospital in London from 1985 to 1986. He was awarded the Roussel Prize for Ageing Research in 1990. He was named a visiting professor at the Argentine University of Cordoba in 1997 and again in 2003. Alberto Albanese was appointed Associate Professor of Neurology in 1992 after serving as Director of the Movement Disorders Clinic and Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Gemelli hospital in Rome from 1984. He was named Professor of Neurology and Co-Chairman of the Neurology Department at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1996. He served in these roles until 2000.
