BIOGRAPHY

At the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Professor Giulio Maccauro received his degrees in medicine and surgery. He then went on to specialize in orthopedics and traumatology, earning honors and full grades in both fields. His career has been closely associated with the National Institutes of Higher Studies, which have welcomed and enhanced his preparation. He progressed from being a researcher to a lecturer, and presently holds the positions of Director of the Departmental Centre of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the IRCCS Gemelli University Hospital Foundation and Full Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. 

The surgical specialties of Prof. Maccauro are osteoarticular infections and oncological surgery. Thanks to worldwide internships with eminent professors in Oncology of the Musculoskeletal System, he has specialized in the detection and treatment of bone metastases and primary skeletal cancers.

He has completed more than 12,000 orthopaedic and traumatological procedures as First Operator, with a focus on oncological procedures for tumors that originate in the skeleton or indicate metastatic disseminations.
