Package Description
Cystectomy Radical and Ileal Conduit
The ileal conduit is a well-known treatment for urine diversion following radical cystectomy. It makes use of a brief section of ileum to allow urine to flow through the abdominal wall and empty into a stoma collecting device through an everted stoma.
A cystectomy is a procedure in which the urine bladder is removed. The prostate and seminal vesicles are usually removed as well when the entire bladder is removed (radical cystectomy). The uterus, ovaries, and a portion of the vaginal wall are all removed during a radical cystectomy in women.
An ileal conduit allows a person to flow pee even if their bladder has been removed by surgery or has become damaged. To treat aggressive or recurring malignancies of the pelvis, surgeons may remove the bladder.
Disease Overview:
Invasive bladder cancer refers to cancer cells that have migrated beyond the bladder's inner lining and into the muscular layer. If cancer is not treated, it has the potential to spread to other parts of the body. Advanced bladder cancer occurs when the disease has spread to other parts of the body.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- The most frequent symptom is hematuria (blood in the urine), which is generally painless.
- Urine needs to be passed often and urgently.
- When you pass urine, it hurts.
- You're experiencing pain in your lower abdomen.
- Back ache.
Disease Causes:
When people come into touch with tobacco or other cancer-causing chemicals, they can get bladder cancer. There are also certain dangers associated with specific genes and illnesses. Treatment with radiation to the pelvis is another well-known risk factor.
Risk Factors
- Smoking. By allowing hazardous chemicals to build in the urine, smoking cigarettes, cigars, or pipes may raise the risk of bladder cancer.
- Getting older.
- Being a man.
- Chemical poisoning is caused by exposure to specific substances.
- Previous therapy for cancer.
- Bladder irritation that lasts a long time.
- Cancer in one's own family
Disease Diagnosis:
A little sample of the tumour can be used to determine the stage of bladder cancer. A biopsy is a procedure that is frequently performed as part of a TURBT. A pathologist examines the sample under a microscope and determines the cancer stage.
Disease Treatment:
Surgery: One of the most common treatments for invasive bladder cancer is surgery. The surgeon will normally remove your whole bladder and replace it with a new passageway for you to pass pee.
Radiotherapy: High-energy x-rays are used in radiotherapy to eliminate bladder cancer cells.
Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is a treatment that employs anti-cancer medications to kill cancer cells. It might happen before, during, or after radiation or surgery.
