VITREO-RETINAL PROCEDURES-Silicon Oil Removal - 23G, Sature Less:

Silicone oil is a liquid with unusual surface tension properties. For nearly six decades, vitreo retinal (VR) surgeons have employed it as a long-term internal temponading agent during retinal reattachment surgery. 1 Long-term usage of silicone oil, however, can induce consequences including eye cataracts, secondary glaucoma, and keratopathy, in addition to photoreceptor toxicity. As a result, silicone oil removal (ROSO) becomes necessary in a variety of situations, and some surgeons even prescribe treatment in almost all cases with a few exceptions. Few VR surgeons recommend ROSO as early as a month or a few weeks after the original operation to avoid or address problems.

Although ROSO poses the danger of retinal reattachment and other issues, all VR specialists agreed that silicone oil should be discontinued once the temponade objectives have been met and the retina has stabilised.

Passive silicone oil removal with a 23 G suture-free vitrectomy device is safe and effective, with less intraoperative and postoperative problems. Because this simple approach causes less tissue trauma and takes less time, it is more comfortable for both patients and surgeons.

Disease Overview:

Anatomically stable retinal conditions

The retina borders the back of the eye and is around 0.5 mm thick. In addition to ganglion cell axons flowing to the brain, the optic nerve contains incoming blood capillaries that enter into the retina to vascularize the retinal layers and neurons.

Disease Signs and Symptoms:

  • Observing particles or cobwebs in the air.
  • Vision that is hazy or distorted (straight lines appear wavy).
  • Defects in one's peripheral eyesight.
  • lost my vision

Disease Causes:

Risk factor for retinal disorders.

  • Aging
  • Smoking.
  • Obesity is a problem.
  • Diabetic or suffering from other ailments.
  • Trauma to the eyes.
  • Retinal disorders run in the family.

Disease Diagnosis:

A dilated eye exam is frequently required to look for retinal disease. Make an appointment with an ophthalmologist or an optometrist who specialises in eye care. He or she is capable of doing a comprehensive eye examination.

Disease Treatment:

  • Making use of a laser. A retinal tear or hole can be repaired using laser surgery.
  • Blood vessels that have shrunk abnormally.
  • freezing
  • Injecting air or gas into your eye
  • Indenting the surface of your eye
  • Evacuating and replenishing the fluid in your eye
  • Injecting drugs into your eye.
