BIOGRAPHY

Medical oncologist Dr. David Tan works at the National University Cancer Institute in Singapore as a clinician scientist. He is a Principal Investigator at the NUS Cancer Science Institute and an Associate Professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Additionally, he oversees the office of innovation transfer at National University Health Systems (NUHS). His main areas of clinical and academic interest are gynaecological cancers (ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers), as well as the creation of cutting-edge anti-cancer therapeutics. Dr. Tan earned an MBBS with Distinction and a BSc in Experimental Pathology with First Class Honors from Guy's, King's, and St. Thomas' School of Medicine at the University of London in the United Kingdom. Prior to receiving a Cancer Research UK Research Fellowship at The Institute of Cancer Research in London, where he earned his PhD in Oncology, he completed his internal medicine residency at Hammersmith Hospital and Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals in London. Later, he finished his medical oncology specialty training at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Prior to moving back to Singapore, he completed a second fellowship in drug development and gynecologic oncology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University of Toronto, Canada, after working in the drug development unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital/Institute of Cancer Research.
