Dr. Anand Kumar A.

Dr. Anand Kumar received his MBBS and MD [General Medicine] degrees from the Medical College of Trivandrum. He completed his post-doctoral studies in Neurology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, a nationally recognised institute. He joined the faculty of Trivandrum Medical College after receiving his DM in Neurology. In 1989, after a brief stint at Medical College, he joined the Ministry of Health in Sharjah as a specialist Neurologist. In Sharjah, he created the Department of Neurology at Al Qassimi and Kuwait Hospitals. In 1999, he moved to India and joined the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. He established Amrita's Neurosciences Division, which today has the capacity of a tertiary care referral facility and ten professionally educated neurologists. He has a number of papers to his name and is particularly interested in cognitive neurology, sleep medicine, and biomedical research. Dr. Anand has also researched in the field of medical artificial intelligence, where he was part of a team that created an expert system for epilepsy. He is now researching memory, autonomic function, dysarthria, patient monitoring, lifestyle modification, space-mind medicine, and epilepsy prediction.
