BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ashok Rajgopal is immediately identified with the term "innovation." Dr. Rajgopal is an internationally known orthopaedic surgeon who has performed over 30,000 complete knee replacement procedures. In addition, he has performed over 15,000 arthroscopic ligament reconstruction and repair operations. He is the first in India to perform a bilateral procedure, the first in India to use the Gender implant (designed specifically for female patients), the first in India to perform total knee replacement using Patient Specific Instrumentation, and the first in India to perform minimally invasive total knee replacement. He is a designer surgeon and a member of the design team that created and developed the Persona Knee, the most recent knee implant.
He was successful in developing MIS total knee replacement surgical instruments, which were eventually patented by Zimmer and are now used by knee replacement surgeons all over the world. He has received numerous honours as a result of his unwavering commitment to practising and promoting medical sciences.
