BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Farooq Khan is a consultant with extensive training in the UK and expertise in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. He completed his liver transplant training at St. James Hospital Leeds after completing the Trent GI programme. Additionally, he has completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopy and performs endobariatric procedures as well as interventional endoscopic procedures like ERCP, Spyglass, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic mucosal resection, and endoscopic submucosal dissection. In addition to inserting PEG/PEJ, he also performs groundbreaking endosuturing to implant GI stents to aid in feeding.
Dr. Khan brings a special talent to the UAE by assisting patients in assessing and managing disease at an early stage using specialised clinical and endoscopic knowledge. He has created a ""bespoke service"" to help people with Diabetes and Fatty Liver get screened and treated early on, helping both their Diabetes and Liver before it worsens. He has a particular clinical and academic interest in this field, so it is encouraging to learn that he will conduct population-based research at King's Dubai.
Dr. Khan also brings to our door a wealth of experience in endoscopic ultrasound. When compared to CT or MRI, EUS is a relatively newer technique that accurately detects gastrointestinal, biliary, and pancreatic problems that sometimes go undetected. It also makes it possible for radiotherapy and oncology-based regimens to treat cancers more successfully. In keeping with King's legacy, Dr. Khan not only performs these procedures but is also a certified EUS trainer. We are happy that he has plans to teach other doctors in the Gulf region so they can better serve larger patient populations there.
Dr. Khan will conduct specialised clinics for complex liver diseases, including a liver transplant clinic, at Kings in addition to general GI disorders.
