BIOGRAPHY

Following his graduation from Chengalpattu Medical College in 2001, Dr. Muralidharan travelled to the United Kingdom for additional orthopaedic training. Through an organised training programme at numerous internationally renowned institutions in the United Kingdom, he received extensive training in all facets of orthopaedics. He spent two years at the famed Wrightington Hospital in Manchester, which is where Sir John Charnley, the inventor of modern hip replacement surgery, first performed the procedure in the 1960s. He was an expert in treating all orthopaedic disorders affecting the hip, knee, spine, shoulder, elbow, hand, foot, and ankle both non-surgically and surgically. He continued on to get further advanced degrees, including MRCS(UK), MCh (Ortho), FRCS Ortho (UK), and he is currently a Member/Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (UK). At the 2012 Annual Conference of the British Orthopedic Association, he became the first Indian to receive the Arthritis Research UK Young Investigator Award. For his groundbreaking work on enhancing the care of elderly patients with hip fractures, he won numerous awards. He underwent spine surgery training after completing his orthopaedic residency. He spent two years receiving specialised training in adult and paediatric spinal issues at Nottingham, UK's illustrious Spine Institute Queen's Medical Centre. After that, he completed three brief visiting spine surgery fellowships, receiving training from the top spinal surgeons in the world at Ganga Hospital in India, Royal Orthopedic Hospital in the United Kingdom, and Bordeaux (France). As an orthopaedic spine surgeon with fellowship training, Dr. Muralidharan's practise encompasses all facets of bone, joint, and spine care. His super specialised knowledge offers complete care for spinal disorders affecting the cervical (neck), thoracic (upper back), and lumbosacral (lower back) regions.
