Dr. Praveen Chandra

Dr. Praveen Chandra is the Chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon, India. He is regarded as one of the country's foremost experts in angioplasty and is well-versed in a variety of modern gadgets and technology. In 2016, the President of India gave him the "Padma Shri" for his achievements and success in the field of medicine. He has also worked at Max Healthcare as the Director of Cardiac Cath Lab & Acute MI Services and at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center in New Delhi as a Consultant Cardiologist. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology and the Endovascular Intervention Society of India.Dr. Chandra has served on the faculty of numerous international conferences and was the organiser and director of the AMI course in New Delhi in 2005 and 2006. He has over 100 articles, reviews, and abstracts published in a variety of national and international periodicals. In 1998, he received India's renowned Recognition Award for Success and Achievement in the Field of Angioplasty. He performed Percutaneous Aortic Valve Implantation without Surgery for the first time in India. He was also the first person to perform a percutaneous mitral valve repair. Both have significant ramifications in our country, which has the world's greatest number of valvular heart disease cases.He was also the first in India to employ the Angio Jet Thrombectomy Device, to establish the Percutaneous Myocardial Laser Vascularization Program, and to use FFR and Bioabsorbable Stents.
