Dr. Vivek Jawali

Dr. Vivek Jawali is the Chief Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Fortis Hospitals in Bangalore, where he also serves as Chairman of the Department of Cardio Vascular Sciences. Dr. Jawali has also been appointed to the newly formed Medical Council of India (MCI), the principal statutory authority that oversees medical education standards and the acceptance of medical certifications in the nation. In 2008, Dr. Jawali served as president of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS). He founded the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeons (ISMICS) and is the sole Indian on the journal's editorial board, Innovations in Cardiac Surgery. He is also a member of the Asian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons' council. He formerly served as Vice President of the Indian College of Cardiology. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (IACTS) publication, Cardiac Anaesthesia, and CTSNet (a comprehensive global website of cardiac surgeons around the world). He is the creator and webmaster of iacts.org (a website of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons). He was recently elected as a member of the Medical Council of India's academic council.
