BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Abraham was raised in Manchester, attended school in Kumasi, Ghana, and had his general surgery training in Pune, India. In 1993, he returned to the UK and completed training in liver transplantation and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery in London, mostly at the Royal Free and Royal London Hospitals. Since 2005, he has served as a consultant HPB, trauma, and general surgeon at Barts Health NHS at the Royal London Hospital. As of August 2020, he has also served as the undergraduate dean of Barts Health. At Queen Mary University of London, he also serves as an honorary senior clinical lecturer. He is an active clinical surgeon with expertise in related open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical approaches. His specialist HPB interests include surgical management of benign and malignant disease of the liver, gall bladder and bile duct, and pancreas, complex gallstone disease, and acute and chronic pancreatitis. Additionally, he has more than 20 years of experience in both elective and emergency general surgery, as well as open and minimally invasive techniques for a range of general surgical disorders include acute surgical abdomens, incisional hernias, and groin hernias. As a trauma surgeon at the Royal London, the first specifically designed major trauma center (MTC) in the UK, he is skilled in the management of chest, abdomen, and pelvic injuries.
