Mr George Asimakopoulos

In 1992, Mr. Asimakopoulos earned his medical degree from the University of Hamburg in Germany. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency in West London between 1999 and 2006, followed by a year as a fellow in heart and lung transplantation at Harefield Hospital. After that, he spent seven years working as a consultant cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. He performed more than 230 heart surgery procedures annually while he was working at Bristol, making him one of the busiest cardiac surgeons in the UK. As an aortic surgeon with a focus on difficult issues with the aortic valve, aortic root, ascending aorta, and arch, he joined Royal Brompton Hospital in February 2014. He also has extensive experience performing surgery on individuals who have had prior heart surgery and managing endocarditis.
