BIOGRAPHY
Professor Williamson received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 1984 after completing his medical studies at Glasgow University Medical School. From 1995 to the present, he continued his ophthalmology training in Aberdeen, Cambridge, Glasgow, and London with a focus on vitreoretinal disorders.
Professor Williamson has trained about 30 vitreoretinal fellows as part of a highly sought-after, international fellowship program at St Thomas' Hospital in London. He is heavily involved in the training and teaching of future generations of ophthalmic surgeons.
Professor Williamson also has a solid background in research and development in the field of retinal illness as a Clinical Lecturer at Kings College London and a Visiting Professor in Biological Sciences and Engineering at the University of Surrey.
