Professor Omar Khan

Professor Khan is an expert in weight-loss (bariatric) surgery and a consultant general surgeon. Before being hired as a Consultant Surgeon in Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery at St Georges Hospital in London, where he is also the lead general surgeon for Trauma, he studied at the University of Cambridge, underwent his clinical training in Nottingham, and Southampton, where he also earned a PhD in obesity and cardiovascular disease. The National Bariatric Registry Committee, which is in charge of disseminating consultant outcomes in bariatric surgery, is on which Professor Khan sits. He offers specialized advice on medicolegal cases as an expert witness in court cases. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at St. George's Medical School and actively pursues research. His research on weight loss was published in the Lancet and was covered by local, national, and international media. He has written more than 160 papers.
