Prof Andrew Tan Hwee Chye

In addition to receiving extensive training in shoulder, knee, sports, and arthroscopic surgery at the University of Washington in the United States, Professor Andrew Tan earned his orthopaedic surgery training in Singapore. He was one of the first few medical professionals in Singapore to receive the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's Fellowship in Orthopaedics in 2002, certifying him as an orthopaedic specialist at that time. Since returning from the United States in 2003, he has been working as an orthopaedic surgeon at the Singapore General Hospital. He is currently the department's head and senior consultant, as well as an adjunct professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and a clinical professor at the hospital. At the Singapore Sports Institute, Prof. Tan works with athletes of all levels, including our national athletes, and treats patients of all age groups with shoulder, knee, and sports-related disorders. He was a member of the Formula 1 SingHealth Medical Team and the SGH physician in charge of the first Youth Olympic Games.
