Package Description
Arthroscopic Bankart Repair:
A Bankart lesion is a shoulder injury caused by a labrum rupture, which causes shoulder instability and repeated dislocations. Arthroscopic Bankart repair is a minimally invasive surgical method that reattaches and tightens the shoulder joint's separated labrum.
Disease Overview:
Glenohumeral instability
The failure to keep the humeral head centred in the glenoid fossa is known as glenoid instability.
Trauma or damage to the joints can induce joint instability. The labrum can be torn if the shoulder joint is damaged.
- This is more frequent among athletes and young people who participate in sports. These actions can result in shoulder injuries or dislocations.
- Motions that are repeated over and over.
- Factors that are present at birth.
The most frequent traumatic kind of instability observed clinically is anterior instability, which occurs when the humeral head is driven into extremes of abduction and external rotation, or horizontal abduction, causing the glenolabral complex and capsule to separate from the glenoid rim.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Repeated shoulder dislocations are common indications of chronic shoulder instability.
- The shoulder has given out on several occasions.
- The shoulder feels loose, as if it's slipping in and out of the joint or simply hanging there.
- An injury to the shoulder has resulted in pain.
Disease Causes:
When the labrum is ripped or pulled away from the glenoid, shoulder instability can result. This can happen as a result of a shoulder dislocation, shoulder trauma, or repeated motion (like throwing a baseball).
A traumatic rupture of the capsule and ligaments (generally following a full dislocation or partial dislocation/subluxation) or widespread soft tissue laxity are the most common causes of this condition.
Disease Diagnosis:
A physical exam and X-rays are used to discover the reason of shoulder instability or to rule out other causes of shoulder discomfort when diagnosing shoulder instability. Both non-operative and surgical treatments are available for shoulder instability.
Disease treatment:
Instability can be treated with both nonoperative and operative methods. Instability is frequently treated with exercise regimens aimed at strengthening the rotator cuff and scapular muscles. Currently, arthroscopic and open procedures are used to perform surgical repairs.
Open surgery is frequently required to treat severe instability. To get access to the joint capsule, ligaments, and labrum, an incision is created across the shoulder and the muscles are displaced.
