ORBIT AND OCULOPLASTY-Ptosis Surgery with Fasanella Servat Procedure
The surgeon performs ptosis surgery by turning the eyelid inside out and shortening the eyelid muscles from the inside. The levator muscle or Mueller's muscle, which also helps lift the lid, are both shortened. The eyelid is gently everted over a Desmarres retractor in the basic Fasanella-Servat method, and local anaesthetic containing 2 percent xylocaine and 1:100,000 epinephrine is injected subconjunctivally above the superior boundary of the tarsal plate.

Ptosis
Ptosis, also known as blepharoptosis, is a low-lying upper eyelid edge that occurs while the eye is in primary gaze. The superior corneal limbus is 1.5 mm below the normal adult top lid, which is highest immediately nasal to the pupil.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Blinking or shutting the eye is difficult.
- Tearing.
- Eye tiredness is a common problem.
- Having difficulty seeing (because of this, a person may tilt their head back in order to see under the eyelid)
Disease Causes:
Ptosis can be caused by a variety of factors, including myogenic, neurogenic, aponeurotic, mechanical, or traumatic. Ptosis usually arises on its own, but it can also be linked to other illnesses such as immunological, degenerative, or genetic problems, malignancies, or infections.
Disease Diagnosis:
Your eyelids will be examined thoroughly by an eye doctor to determine if you have ptosis. The height of your eyelids and the strength of your eyelid muscles will be measured. A computerised visual field exam may be used to determine if your vision is normal.
Disease Treatment:
Ptosis is most commonly treated with a surgical surgery known as ptosis repair. 1 A local anaesthetic is used to numb the region surrounding your eyelid by the surgeon. After that, doctors create a tiny incision (cut) in the upper eyelid's skin. They can then use sutures to tighten the levator muscle and lift the eyelid.
