BIOGRAPHY
At the American Hospital Dubai, Professor Dr. Firas R. Alani, MD, serves as a consultant physician. He joined the American Hospital in September 2019 and has 12 years of cardiology experience in the USA. He is currently the Chairman of the American Hospital Academic Institution and the Chief Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the American Hospital Dubai (AHAI). Dr. Alani received his medical degree (M.B.Ch.B.) from Al Mustansiryiah University in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1993, before joining American Hospital Dubai. He then went on to complete his internal medicine residency training at Cornell University's Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, USA. The Drexel University College of Medicine presented him with the ""Golden Stethoscope"" award for his teaching.
During his career, Dr. Firas worked in the area of clinical research for a number of years. He published more than 40 articles in reputable peer-reviewed medical journals while serving as the primary principal investigator on more than 20 international clinical trials. He was invited to speak at numerous conferences around the world, including the American Heart Association conference in Dubai in November 2019, because he is a well-known national and international speaker. Prof. Dr. Alani has expertise in complex interventions for coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, including TAVI and TMVI, left atrial appendage closure via the WATCHMAN procedure, carotid stenting, percutaneous closure of atrial septal defects, and patent foramen ovale, as well as extensive experience in peripheral vascular interventions, such as EVAR."
