Package Description
CORNEAL AND OCULAR SURFACE PROCEDURES-Subtenon's / Subconjuctival Injection
The ocular route of medication administration is known as Sub-Tenon injection. It entails injecting a drug into the space between the sclera and the Tenon capsule. PSTSI stands for posterior sub-Tenons steroid injections, which are used to treat posterior ocular inflammation such as chronic uveitis.
Between the capsule and the sclera, the sub-tenon space is a virtual space. By diffusing posteriorly into the retro-orbital space to block the travelling sensory and motor neurons, local anaesthetic instillation in this area generates analgesia and akinesia.
Disease Overview:
Macular edema
The buildup of fluid in the retinal layers near the fovea causes macular edoema, which contributes to vision loss by disrupting the functional cell connection in the retina and stimulating an inflammatory reparative response. Macular edoema is a symptom of ocular illness rather than a distinct entity.
Cystoid macular edoema (CME) is a frequent retinal pathologic sequel that can result from a number of diseases, including intraocular inflammation, central or branch retinal vein blockage, diabetic retinopathy, and, most commonly, cataract extraction.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
Blurry or wavy vision near or in the centre of your field of vision is the most common sign of macular edoema. Colors may also seem faded or washed out. Macular edoema causes symptoms that vary from slightly blurred vision to significant vision loss in the majority of persons.
Disease Causes:
Macular edoema arises when damaged blood vessels in the surrounding retina cause abnormal leaking and buildup of fluid in the macula. Diabetic retinopathy, a disorder that can affect persons with diabetes, is a common cause of macular edoema.
Disease Diagnosis:
Dilated retinal exam, fluorescein angiography, or optical coherence tomography are the three most common procedures to detect macular edoema (OCT). Dilated Retinal Exam: Using a special lens to examine the macula and detect any cysts, our doctors may be able to diagnose macular edoema.
Disease Treatment:
The primary treatment for macular edoema caused by inflammatory eye illnesses is corticosteroid (steroid) therapies, which decrease inflammation. Eye drops, tablets, or injections of sustained-release corticosteroids into or around the eye are the most common ways to take these anti-inflammatory medications.
