LipiView is a cutting-edge digital imaging technique for assessing the degree of dry eye illness and meibomian gland dysfunction in patients (MGD).
TearScience's LipiView is the diagnostic part of a therapy solution for meibomian gland dysfunction. The plan is to utilise LipiView to assess the severity of MGD before treating it with the LipiFlow device.

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)
Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a term used to describe a set of illnesses related by functional abnormalities of the meibomian glands, both congenital and acquired. MGD can cause evaporative dry eye, ocular surface disease, ocular and eyelid irritation, and a change in tear film composition.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
As the glands get clogged, the eyelids might become painful and puffy. As the eyes dry up, they may feel scratchy or gritty, as if something is in the eye. The eyes may be red, and if they're irritated, they may be watery, causing poor vision.
Disease Causes:
Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a frequent disorder in which the meibomian glands produce insufficient oil (meibum) or the oil is of low quality. Dry eye condition and blepharitis are also commonly caused by MGD.
Disease Treatment:
Hot compresses are used to help release the oily tears from the glands. Soak a face cloth or cotton pads in hot (not boiling) water, close your eyes, and press the heated cloth on your eyelids. Continue to apply the compress for at least five minutes after rewetting the cloth with hot water. Rep per day till the situation improves. You can also utilise 'heat bags,' which are specially developed to help with this problem. These bags are far more effective than a hot towel in terms of directing heat. Your neighbourhood optometrist can help you with these issues.
Continue the treatment for a few minutes every day to help prevent the glands from blocking up again. Tears can also be released by massaging your eyelids.
If the hot compresses or heat packs don't help, your optometrist may need to send you to a specialist.
