Package Description
Foreign Body Removal Superficial
To remove a superficial foreign body from the conjunctiva or cornea, irrigate the region gently (e.g., with sterile saline in a syringe) to wet it and perhaps dislodge the foreign body. The irrigating stream should not be directed directly towards the foreign substance.
Procedure for dealing with foreign items in the body-
- The item can be pulled out of the nose or ear using a suction machine.
- When an item becomes lodged in the airway, a bronchoscope can be employed.
- Foreign items in the stomach or rectum can be removed with an endoscope.
- An item can also be removed using retractors.

Foreign body in Eye
A foreign body is anything that shouldn't be in your eye, such a bit of dust, a wood chip, a metal shaving, an insect, or a shard of glass. A foreign body is most commonly found under the eyelid or on the surface of the eye.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- A strong ache in your eye is followed by inflammation and burning.
- You have the impression that there is something in your eye.
- Eyes that are watery and red.
- When I blink, I get a scratchy feeling.
- In the afflicted eye, there is impaired vision or loss of vision.
- Bright light sensitivity is a condition in which a person is sensitive to bright lights.
Disease Causes:
Causes of a foreign object in the eye
- Cosmetics.
- Metal particles.
- Dried mucus.
- Sawdust.
- Dirt.
- Sand.
- Cosmetics contact lenses.
Disease Diagnosis:
Fluorescein. Any epithelial defect linked with the foreign body is detected using fluorescein. It can be injected as a wet strip or as drops, with the ocular surface seen using an ophthalmoscope or a Wood's lamp with a cobalt blue filter.
Disease Treatment:
In most cases, medical therapy entails having your vision checked by a doctor or nurse. After numbing the eye using anaesthetic eye drops, they locate the foreign body and gently remove it. They'll schedule an appointment for you to visit an ophthalmologist (specialist eye doctor) to have it removed if it's central or deep.
