Profile (Overview)
A team of dermatologists at the National Skin Centre (NSC), an outpatient specialty dermatological facility, have the training and experience necessary to treat any skin disease. After taking over the treatment of skin diseases from Middle Road Hospital, NSC began operations on November 1st, 1988. Every day, we manage a patient load of roughly 1,000. Being a member of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and a public health organisation, we share the NHG mission of "Adding years of healthy living." The NSC is a tertiary healthcare organisation that offers specialised dermatological services, educates medical students and postgraduates, and conducts dermatology research.

DOCTORS

Dr. Tan Suat Hoon is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist and is currently the Director of the National Skin Centre (NSC) in Singapore. She received training in dermatopathology in 1993–1994 at St. Thomas Hospital in London, UK, under the guidance of Phillip McKee. She is a diplomate of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK). From 2001 through 2014, she oversaw Dermatopathology at the NSC as its director. She holds an adjunct professorship at Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University Singapore's Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Additionally, she maintains academic positions at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. She is the leader of the dermatology residency advisory committee at the federal level. Her primary scientific interests are on skin cancer and cutaneous lymphomas. She has written seven book chapters and more than 130 indexed publications in clinical dermatology and dermatopathology.
