Assoc Prof Ravindran Kanesvaran

In the National Cancer Centre Singapore's Division of Medical Oncology, Dr. Ravindran Kanesvaran serves as Senior Consultant and Deputy Head. Additionally, he holds the positions of clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He is a core faculty member of the Singhealth Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Medical Oncology Senior Residency Program, and he is actively involved in graduate medical education. He finished his training in the National Cancer Center of Singapore's medical oncology specialty. After completing his programme, he continued his education by receiving a Healthcare Manpower Development Program (HMDP) funding from the Ministry of Health Singapore to pursue a fellowship in genitourinary oncology (GU) and geriatric oncology at the Duke Cancer Institute in North Carolina, USA. His areas of interest in research are geriatric oncology and GU oncology. He has published work in a variety of renowned peer-reviewed journals, such as Lancet Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, he has received a number of honours, such as the 2009 Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO GU), the 2010 Scholar-in-Training Award from the American Association for Cancer Research, and the 2012 Fellowship Award from the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). He now serves as the president of both the Singapore Geriatric Oncology Society and the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO). He has been named a 2015–2016 member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) faculty. He serves on the International Society of Geriatric Oncology's Scientific and Education Committee and is Singapore's National Representative (SIOG). He received the SIOG 2014 National Representative of the Year Award.
