BIOGRAPHY

"Edith Hamel is a Canadian neuroscientist who focuses on the interactions between neurons, astrocytes, and microvessels that permit a normal blood supply to activated brain areas as well as the different neurological diseases that result from a system that is not functioning properly. Hamel works in a lab at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, a project of McGill University. There, she employs a variety of brain imaging methods to map changes in neuronal and hemodynamic responses under various physiological and pathological circumstances in order to identify the mediators of these responses."
