Dr Joy Varghese

Dr. Joy Varghese is the Director of Hepatology & Transplant Hepatology at Gleneagles Global Health City, which is located in Chennai, India. He is one of India's most senior transplant hepatologists. Dr. Joy has been in the medical industry for over a decade and has conducted over 1500 successful liver transplants. He was instrumental in establishing liver transplant programmes at both government and private facilities in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Dr Joy has extensive experience in general hepatology and has given over 1000 talks on liver disease and liver transplantation in India and internationally. He is the first person in India to commence therapeutic plasma exchange in various liver disorders, and he is the first person to successfully do hepatitis B virus-related liver transplantation utilising highly immune plasma. He has around 100 research articles in the subject of liver disorders.
