Dr. Narmada Prasad Gupta

Dr. N.P. Gupta is the Chairman of Urology's Academics and Research Division. He joined the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a faculty member in 1979 after completing his speciality in Urology and climbed to the post of Professor and Head of Department (1998-2010). During his 42 year career in the field of urology, Dr. Gupta made significant contributions to the advancement of the science of urology at both the national and international levels. He has performed more than 20,000 urological surgeries. He is a prominent surgeon who began robotic surgery in Urology at AIIMS in 2006 and has since completed the most robotic surgeries in India in his specialty.He served as President of the Urological Society of India in 2007 and Asia in 2008-2010, as well as a National Delegate and Board Member of the Socitete Internationale D' Urologie (2004-06). He has received various national and international awards, including the Padamshree of the Government of India (2007) and the Medical Council of India's Dr. B. C. Roy National Award (2005).
