Dr. Rajesh Kumar Ahlawat

Dr. Ahlawat has worked in some of North India's most prestigious institutions, where he built successful Minimally Invasive Urology programmes, including Robotic Surgery and Kidney Transplant services, with world-class outcomes. Dr. Ahlawat is the founder and director of four successful urology and renal transplant programmes in India: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, Fortis Hospitals in New Delhi, and Medanta, the Medicity in Gurgaon. At one of his employment, he spearheaded the busiest Minimally Invasive Urology services in India. Currently he is serving as Group Chairman, Medanta Kidney & Urology Institute in Medanta- The Medicity, Gurgaon and has an extensive experience of 41 years. He has been invited as a guest faculty member for live demonstrations of a variety of laparoscopic and robotic surgeries such as Pyeloplasty, Partial Nephrectomy, Radical Prostatectomy, Radical Cystectomy, and Kidney Transplantation surgeries at live surgery workshops held around the world for Minimally Invasive Surgery. In conjunction with Prof. Mani Menon's team from Vattikuti Urology Institute (VUI) at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Dr. Ahlawat pioneered the world's first Robotic Kidney Transplant (RKT) with regional hypothermia approach. He works as the Director of VUI International, spreading the robotic technique all over the world. Dr. Ahlawat was awarded the President's Gold Medal by USI in 2016. During his time at the Institute of Urology and Nephrology, he was awarded the status of Honorary Lecturer by the University College London Hospitals (UCLH) in the United Kingdom in 1995. Dr. Ahlawat has also served on the Endourology Society's Board of Directors.
