BIOGRAPHY

In 1999, Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust hired Jonathan Lucas as an orthopaedic and spinal consultant. Jonathan was the chief surgeon for spinal surgery at Guy's and St. Thomas' from 2007 to 2019 and is now the director of the service for pediatric spinal surgery at Evelina London Children's Hospital. Jonathan served as AO SPINE UK's previous chairman. The British Association of Spine Surgeons, the British Scoliosis Society, the European Spine Society, the North American Spine Society, and the British Orthopaedic Association are among the organizations he belongs to. In 1988, Jonathan received his medical degree from St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School in London. He underwent fundamental surgical training during his rotation at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and in 1992, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS(Eng)). On the south east Thames orthopaedic rotation, he pursued further surgical orthopaedic training and earned the FRCS(Orth&Tr) in 1998. As a fellow at The Centre for spine Studies and Surgery at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and as a British Orthopaedic Association traveling fellow to the USA, specializing in children's and adult deformity surgery, he received specialized training in spine surgery.
