BIOGRAPHY

Before studying medicine at Guy's Hospital in London, Mr. Bhupal Chitnavis was raised in West London. His early training in neurosurgery began with the late Professor Edward Hitchcock in Birmingham and continued with Professor Lindsay Simon at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Prior to finishing the majority of his neurosurgical training at King's College Hospital, he also spent time training at Great Ormond Street. Professor Anthony Strong and his senior colleague Richard Gullan encouraged him to take an interest in spinal surgery while he was there. In Utrecht, he studied high flow vascular bypass methods under Cornelius Tulleken. His primary area of interest is spinal surgery, namely complex stabilization and the creation of innovative apparatus. He is a neurosurgeon by training, but he has spent time abroad with Professor Jurgen Hams in Germany and with orthopaedic colleagues at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, giving him extensive exposure to orthopaedic spinal surgical methods.
