Dr. Hisham Hakim completed his neurology training at the University of South Alabama in the United States after obtaining his medical degree from Aleppo University's Faculty of Medicine in Syria. Additionally, he studied neuromuscular illnesses for two years at the University of Madison in Wisconsin, USA. At the University of Illinois in Chicago, Dr. Hakim obtained a Master of Public Health degree. He became a Board Certified Neurology in 1990.

Since 1991, Dr. Hakim has been the founder of the Greystone Neurology Center in Birmingham. Being one of its founders, Greystone Neuroscience Center is the biggest privately held neuroscience facility in the state of Alabama. He is the Chairman of American Spine Center International as well as the creator of American Spine Center in the United States. With 25 years of extensive experience in neurology, Dr. Hakim specializes in providing all-encompassing non-surgical treatment for back pain.
He is a member of several international organizations including the American task committee tasked with reducing back pain-related disability by 10% by 2025. Dr. Hakim gave presentations at several international conferences about his expertise in this area and gave health care providers educational and training programs in USA.
