CX Stump Removal Abdominal:
The removal of the cervix after supracervical hysterectomy is known as cervical stump extirpation (trachelectomy). In women having hysterectomy for a variety of benign reasons, subtotal or supracervical hysterectomy is an option to complete hysterectomy (removal of the uterine fundus and cervix).
Cervical stump cancer develops in the remaining uterine cervix of a woman who has had her uterus removed for benign conditions such uterine fibroids, benign ovarian tumours, or postpartum bleeding. Cervical stump cancer accounts about 1.6-4.4 percent of all incidences of cervical cancer.
