Profile (Overview)

On April 8, 1996, the Kasr El Aini Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, established the new Kasr El Aini Teaching Hospital, a research and teaching facility in Cairo outfitted with the newest scientific techniques and technologies. The hospital has undergone numerous renovations since it was first established in 1827 under the direction of a French physician, Dr. Anotine Clot, to enable comprehensive medical healthcare services to allow for more patients with better facilities and technologies at lower costs. Additionally, it aims to triple capacity. As a multispecialty hospital, it houses a number of medical and surgical departments, including ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Andrology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dermatology, Family Medicine, and many others. It sees 7.3 million patients annually on average and performs 2.2 million x-rays, 80,000 CT scans, and 45,000 ultrasounds. The Hospital is the first medical school in the Arab republic to be awarded two ISO certificates for its administration and management of educational institutions systems.
