A/Prof Dr. Alfred Kow Wei Chieh

At the NUH's Division of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, Dr. Alfred Kow is an active surgeon. A/Prof Kow finished his advanced surgical training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital after earning his Master of Medicine (Surgery), Master of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Master of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland diplomas in 2005. He earned his Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Hong Kong in 2009. In the same year, the Ministry of Health in Singapore awarded him Specialist accreditation in general surgery. In order to pursue fellowship training in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and hepatobiliary & pancreatic surgical oncology at Samsung Medical Center & Samsung Cancer Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea, he received funding from National University Health System in 2010. He wrote six peer-reviewed journals during his one-year stay in Korea, either alone or with others. Additionally, he has produced a book chapter and multiple articles for peer-reviewed journals on pancreatic surgery, liver surgery, and biliary surgery. A/Prof Kow has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery for hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders as well as liver transplantation from both deceased and living donors.
