BIOGRAPHY

Anand Ghanekar, MD, PhD, FRCSC, received his training in general surgery at the University of Toronto, as well as in hepatobiliary surgery and abdominal organ transplantation (liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestine). He then attended the University of Wisconsin for laparoscopic donor nephrectomy training. Dr. Ghanekar has been given a position in the University Health Network and Hospital for Sick Children's general surgery departments. His clinical work focuses on the transplantation of abdominal organs from adults and children from both living and deceased donors. The involvement of stem cells in liver illnesses, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, is an active area of research for Dr. Ghanekar, an Affiliate Scientist at the Toronto General Research Institute.
