Dr Dasari Prasada Rao

Guntur Medical College is where Dr. Dasari Prasada Rao earned his M.B.B.S. and M.S. degrees. He went to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a resident in Cardiac Surgery because he was interested in the rapidly developing field of cardiac surgery in India. In 1979, he graduated from AIIMS with an M.Ch. in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He travelled to New Zealand and England to receive additional training in Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery because the training in India at the time did not include Coronary Bypass surgery. He learned under Sir Brian Gerald Barratt-Boyes (1924–2006), a well-known co-author of the textbook of cardiac surgery with Dr. Kirklin, in Auckland, New Zealand, where they both worked closely together.
