Dr Harish Mithiran

Thoracic surgeon Dr. Harish Mithiran Muthiah practises at Singapore's Gleneagles Hospital. His clinical interests include robotic and minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung oncology, and chest wall resection and reconstruction. Examples of these procedures include uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and RATS. He was a senior consultant thoracic surgeon in the National University Hospital's (NUH) department of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery and a previous visiting consultant in the general surgery departments of Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Dr. Harish graduated from medical school, completed his basic surgical training, and then joined NUH where he started his cardiothoracic surgery training. He established the robotic thoracic surgery programme and the rib fracture fixation programme while he was at NUH. Since 2014, he has carried out more than 2,500 thoracic operations. He also uses cutting-edge lung surgical methods like navigational bronchoscopy, lung localization techniques, RATS, and U-VATS. He has more than 15 years of medical practise. He was a clinical tutor and the associate programme director for the cardiothoracic residency programme at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Dr. Harish is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a council member for the Academy of Medicine Singapore's cardiothoracic surgeons chapter, and the South East Asian Thoracic Society's assistant treasurer.
