Dr Agasthian T

General thoracic surgeon Dr. Agasthian focuses in treating various lung conditions, particularly lung cancer. In 2000, he served as the primary surgeon during Singapore's first lung transplant. In the moment, Dr. Agasthian works at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He pursued his specialisation in general thoracic surgery as a general thoracic fellow at the Cleveland Clinic's Thoracic Surgery and Transplantation and Mayo Clinic's Division of General Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Agasthian was hired as a senior consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore upon his return to Singapore. Since then, the National Heart Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Changi General Hospital, and KK Women's and Children's Hospital have all engaged him as a visiting consultant. He was the director of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Singapore just before beginning his present private practise at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Dr. Agasthian belongs to both the Asian Surgical Society and the Singapore Thoracic Society. Additionally, he serves as the Asian Thoracoscopic Surgery Education Program's advisor and founding board member. In addition to serving as a reviewer for the European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Asian Annals of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Annals of Medicine Singapore, and Singapore Medical Journal, he is the associate editor for the Journal of Thoracic Diseases. He has spoken at numerous conferences and seminars in the area and has more than 50 papers published in scholarly journals.
