Dr. Nandkishore Kapadia

With more than 36 years of experience performing cardiac surgery, Dr. Nandkishore Kapadia has performed more than 10,000 CABGs, 5,000 or more open heart operations, 500 or more minimally invasive cardiac procedures, 190 or more heart and lung transplants, and 150 or more ECMO and VAD implantations. He introduced the first LVAD (Heart Mate II) to India; the patient is still alive today. Dr. Kapadia completed his post-MBCh training in Paris and the USA, and he holds a diploma from the French Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He also completed a special fellowship in adult and paediatric heart transplantation at St. Christopher's Hospital, Allegheny University, and Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA, which is affiliated with Allegheny University, and Salpitrier, Marry Le langue Hospital in Paris. His previous affiliations include serving as the Director of the Heart Transplant Program at the University Hospital in Caen, France; Head of Unit at the BM Birla Heart Research Center in Kolkata; and Director of the Indo-American Heart Center in Indore and Kolkata. He is a full-time surgeon at Dr. L.H. Hirandani Hospital in Powai, the department head at Fortis in Chennai, a senior consultant and head of the cardiac surgery department for both adults and children, and he previously served as director of the heart and lung transplant programme and head of adult cardiac surgery at Global Healthcity and Hospital Chennai.
