BIOGRAPHY

In addition to serving as Senior Consultant at the SNEC's Glaucoma Department and Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Professor Aung Tin is a clinician scientist in ophthalmology. In 2018, he received the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Professorship of Ophthalmology from the Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore. He is also a full-time professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Competitive research grant funding of more than S$20 million has been awarded to Professor Aung's research. He was a CSA (Junior) from 2007 to 2010 and a CSA (Senior) from 2008 to 2013 before becoming an NMRC STAR Investigator in 2015. Among many other honours and awards, he received the Robert Ritch Award for Excellence and Innovation in Ophthalmology from the Glaucoma Foundation (2017), the Alcon Research Institute Award (2013), the Singapore Translational Research (STaR) Investigator Award (2014), the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology's Nakajima Award (2007), and the De Campo Award (2013).
