BIOGRAPHY

"At the Royal Brompton Hospital, Professor Peter Collins practices as a consultant cardiologist and sees both NHS and private patients. He completed his education at Caius College, the University of Cambridge, and St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School (now a division of King's College London), after which he completed his junior residency in London. Professor Collins attended the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff to pursue a degree in research. He earned his MD from the University of Cambridge, where his thesis earned him the Sir Walter Langdon-Brown award. As a consultant cardiologist, he joined Royal Brompton Hospital in 1989. He was named a clinical cardiology professor at Imperial College London in 2001. Professor Collins vigorously supports the prevention of coronary heart disease through the best risk factor management. He founded the women's heart clinic at Royal Brompton Hospital, one of the first of its kind in the UK, alongside Professor John Stevenson. He has a special interest in the prevention and therapy of heart disease in women.
