At the American Hospital Dubai, Professor Dr. Firas R. Alani, MD, serves as a consultant physician. He joined the American Hospital in September 2019 and has 12 years of cardiology experience in the USA. He is currently the Chairman of the American Hospital Academic Institution and the Chief Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the American Hospital Dubai (AHAI). Dr. Alani received his medical degree (M.B.Ch.B.) from Al Mustansiryiah University in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1993, before joining American Hospital Dubai. He then went on to complete his internal medicine residency training at Cornell University's Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, USA. The Drexel University College of Medicine presented him with the ""Golden Stethoscope"" award for his teaching. During his career, Dr. Firas worked in the area of clinical research for a number of years. He published more than 40 articles in reputable peer-reviewed medical journals while serving as the primary principal investigator on more than 20 international clinical trials. He has 15 years of experience performing advanced cardiovascular interventions in the USA as an experienced interventional cardiologist. He currently serves as American Hospital's Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of Cardiovascular Quality. He co-chairs the American Hospital Academic Institute as well (AHAI). Dr. Mohamad Nour has over 14 years of clinical experience in the United States as a nephrology and hypertension consultant. In the Chicago region of the USA, he completed his nephrology and hypertension training. The American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology has certified Dr. Mohamad to perform and interpret kidney ultrasound. Among other autoimmune diseases of the kidneys, he is particularly interested in treating glomerular diseases like lupus nephritis and vasculitis. Dr. Nizar Natout is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who is board-certified from Canada and has more than 25 years of experience with adult spine surgery. He enrolled in the orthopaedic surgery residency programme at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUB-MC) and continued his education at the University of Toronto's department of orthopaedic surgery, where he completed a full residency and a fellowship in spine surgery. Following his return to Lebanon, he established a private practise and was hired as an associate orthopaedic surgeon by the division of orthopaedic surgery at AUB-MC. He became a Consultant Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon at Clemenceau Medical Center (CMC) in Beirut, Lebanon, in 2009, where he started the Endoscopic Spine Surgery programme. In 2019, Dr. Natout became the Director of Orthopedic Surgery and Consultant Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon at Clemenceau Medical Center (CMC)-Dubai. He has a particular interest in Mini-invasive Spine Surgery and specialises in treating Adult Degenerative Spinal Disorders (MISS). With 26 years of experience in brain and spine surgery, Professor Dr. Dolati is a board-certified neurosurgeon. During that time, he has operated on 200–300 major brain and spine cases annually and managed more than 30,000 outpatient cases at academic institutions as well as private clinics and hospitals. After serving the university for many years as an assistant professor, Prof. Dr. Dolati completed numerous clinical fellowships in various fields of neurosurgery, including neurotrauma and intensive care unit, complex spine surgery, interventional neuroradiology/endovascular neurosurgery, cerebral vascular microsurgery, image-guided neurosurgery/neuronavigation in brain tumour surgery, and combined endovascular neurosurgery/cerebrovascular microsurgery. After completing his fellowship, he worked as an attending neurosurgeon at Boston University's VA West Roxbury hospital. Earlier this year, he joined American Hospital Dubai after joining Zulekha and Emirates Specialty Hospitals the year before. Prof. Dr. Dolati is particularly interested in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases like aneurysms, arterio-venous malformations (AVM), stroke, and carotid artery diseases using surgical (open) and endovascular methods.
