The Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG founder, )'s Dr. T.M.A. Pai, founded the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, Karnataka, in 1953, sowing the seeds of our foundation. With the opening of our 650-bed flagship hospital in Whitefield, Bangalore, Manipal Hospitals as a company came into being. With more than 7600 beds spread over 27 hospitals, we are currently one of India's top healthcare organisations. Since 2008, Dr. Jawali has served as the IACTS' (Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons) president. He is the sole Indian on the editorial board of Innovations in Cardiac Surgery, the magazine of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeons (ISMICS), of which he is a founding member. He is on the Asian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons' council as well. He served as the Indian College of Cardiology's previous vice president. He serves on the editorial board of the CTSNET, the Journal of Cardiac Anaesthesia, and the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (IACTS) journals (a comprehensive global website of cardiac surgeons around the world).
