Profile (Overview)
The Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS) has been established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as an autonomous institute, under the Societies act. The mission of ILBS is to become a dedicated international centre of excellence for the diagnosis, management and advanced training and research in the field of liver and biliary diseases.The first phase of ILBS is already functional having 180 hospital beds, 74 of which cater as intensive care (ICU) beds. The second phase of ILBS, will add a dedicated multi-storie research complex, auditorium, guest-house, hepato-biliary oncology unit, additional beds and residential accommodation. The ILBS aims to provide a healthy work environment to its faculty and staff. ILBS is a deemed university under the UGC act and it aspires to become a unique model for an academic career both for the national and international students and the faculty.

Dr. Ahmed Kamaal graduated from JJM Medical College with a master's degree in general surgery in 2007. Then he went to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi to study DNB Urology. He began a fellowship programme in urology and renal transplantation at Medanta the Medicity Gurgaon in 2014, and remained there as an associate consultant in urology and renal transplant till joining ILBS in July 2017. Dr. RP Mathur is an alumnus of AIIMS, where he completed his DM Nephrology residency. He has a stellar academic background and 43 years of experience in the field of nephrology. National Scholarship, two Gold Medals in Final MBBS, and Fellowship of Indian College of Physicians are among his achievements. After completing a Fellowship in Clinical Nephrology at Manchester Royal Infirmary, he was named a "ISN Scholar" by the International Society of Nephrology. Dr. Mathur has held prominent roles in the Zonal Chapters of the Indian Society of Nephrology and the Association of Physicians of India, as well as being a DNB Teacher and Examiner. He has worked at JR Hospital Mumbai, Apollo Hospitals, the Saudi Ministry of Health, and Rockland & Batra Hospitals. Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Sarin, Sr. Professor, Vice Chancellor, ILBS, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who is a pioneer in clinical innovations, a gifted teacher, and a hybrid with great insights into basic and clinical research, a medical entrepreneur, and an ambassador of enthusiastic learning. In addition, his contributions to medical education and health sciences reform are remarkable. He is currently employed at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Asia's first of its type. ILBS is the region's first, most cost-effective, and most complete Liver Set-up. The institution has a distinct public perspective, as well as a highly qualified staff of researchers and administrators. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, an extra professor in the Department of Hepatology, graduated from G B Pant Hospital in New Delhi with a DM in Gastroenterology in 2005. He then served as an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at G B Pant Hospital till 2008, when he moved to ILBS. Dr. Hanuman Prasad Yadav earned his bachelor's degree in medicine and his master's degree in radiotherapy from Rajasthan University in 1981 and 1986, respectively. Previously, he worked at Sawai Mansingh Hospital and Medical College, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, and Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital/Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Dr. Namita earned her MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Aligarh Muslim University (AMUJawaharlal )'s Nehru Medical College, and her DM (Medical Oncology) from Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. Her research focuses on gastrointestinal malignancies, pancreatic tumours, and nutritional deficiency in cancer patients in order to enhance patient outcomes. View Profile
