Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham | , United Kingdom

Profile (Overview)

Since there had not been a new acute hospital built in the city for 70 years, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) opened its doors in June 2010. The original Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which offers services throughout the entire site, is located on the same property as the new main hospital structure. Services that were previously offered at the older hospital and the close-by Selly Oak Hospital are now provided at the hospital, which is situated in the beautiful district of Edgbaston. QEHB has been recognised as a Level 1 Trauma Centre and as the UK's first £20 million National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC) due to its clinical proficiency in caring for trauma patients and military casualties.
