Dr. Chou Ning

Dr. Chou Ning is the Director of the CHOU Neuroscience Clinic at Farrer Park Hospital and a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon. Dr. Chou has extensive clinical experience in difficult spine surgery, vascular neurosurgery, paediatric neurosurgery, and all types of tumour surgery. He has concentrated on the retro sigmoid technique for tumour removal with a focus on facial nerve preservation over the years. He has also removed cerebro-pontine tumours and clipped aneurysms in the anterior circulation. He has been a leader in the revival of ECIC vascular bypass surgery for critical cerebral ischemia in his clinical practise. Dr. Chou is an expert in stereotactic radiation for brain metastases, AVMs, and deep-seated malignancies. He is particularly interested in degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine. Dr. Chou worked in the public sector for more than 20 years before opening a private practise. He held the positions of Senior Consultant at the National University Cancer Institute and Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery at the National University Hospital. Additionally, he served as a Visiting Senior Consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Dr. Tom King, who invented the translabyrinthine method for treating acoustic neuromas, taught Dr. Chou at the Royal London Hospital. Dr. Chou received the Health Manpower Development Plan and spent three years (1994–1977) studying neurosurgery in London, United Kingdom.
