BIOGRAPHY
Joanne Bargman is a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and a staff nephrologist at the University Health Network. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a medical degree. She spent her final year of medical school as an exchange fellow in Melbourne before attending Stanford University to complete her nephrology training. Her studies were concentrated on micropuncture and renal physiology. When she eventually made it back to Toronto, she was hired by the Toronto Western Hospital, where Dimitrios Oreopoulos educated her in peritoneal dialysis. On topics as varied as peritoneal dialysis, glomerulonephritis, and the therapy of systemic lupus erythematosus, she has given more than 700 invited lectures across the globe.
