BIOGRAPHY
Dr. John Conibear finished his undergraduate general medical training in 2001 at the University Hospital of Wales, and he finished his post-graduate study in general medicine in 2006 at the Barts and The London Training rotation. He finished a 2-year fellowship with the NCRI Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance Group in Mount Vernon Hospital before obtaining his formal position as a consultant clinical oncologist in St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 2014. He did research on methods to enhance clinician target outlining during radiation planning while on his fellowship, and as a result, in 2018 he received an MD(Res) from UCL.
At the moment, Dr. Conibear serves as the Barts Cancer Centre's deputy medical director and director. Dr. Conibear is an expert in all non-surgical therapies for breast and lung malignancies. He is skilled in modern radiotherapy methods such as deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) for early breast cancer, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), 4D-CT, and both the Cyberknife and Gamma Knife (stereotactic radiotherapy). In addition to his private practice, he currently serves as St. Bartholomew's Hospital's clinical director for thoracic oncology and the lead for chemotherapy.
