Professor Peter Schmid

Oncologist who specializes on breast cancer is Professor Schmid. He holds the Chair in Cancer Medicine at the Barts Cancer Institute of Queen Mary University of London and serves as the clinical director of the Breast Cancer Centre at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London. The goal of Professor Peter Schmid's research is to treat women with breast cancer with revolutionary medicines that are based on knowledge of the biology of cancer and provide great care. He is interested in breast cancer from diagnosis through therapy and into full recovery. He also has a focus on triple-negative breast cancer, young patients with the disease, breast cancer linked to pregnancy, and concerns pertaining to fertility. Professor Schmid is dedicated to providing patient-centered, holistic care and customizes treatments based on each patient's biology, preferences, and ongoing reviews of treatment results. He collaborates with other members of a multidisciplinary team that provide patients with breast care nurses. Professor Schmid has long overseen a training program for oncologists and oncology nurses and has a keen interest in patient-doctor communication.
